Estimates, not quotations

Every figure produced on this site is an estimate based on the numbers you entered and the assumptions stated on that page. It is not a quotation, not a booking, and not a binding statement of what anyone will charge you.

Real invoices differ from calculated figures for ordinary reasons: carriers round dimensions up before applying a divisor, apply minimum charges, add fuel and surcharges, and reweigh cargo at the terminal. Customs may value a consignment differently from your declaration. Treat a result here as the number to check against, not the number to budget on.

Not professional advice

Nothing on this site is customs, legal, tax, financial or logistics advice. In particular:

• Duty and tax. Rates depend on tariff classification, origin, trade agreements and current policy. This site has no HS code database and does not tell you your rate - you supply it. Classification is a job for a licensed customs broker.
• Chargeable weight. Divisors are commercial settings that differ by carrier, service and unit system, and they change. Use the figure from the service guide for the exact service you are booking.
• Regulatory figures. Where a tool touches a regulated value, it gives the calculated figure only. Compliance is between you, your carrier and the relevant authority.

Where the numbers come from

Most calculations here are definitional arithmetic - a cubic metre is a million cubic centimetres, and that will not be revised. Those pages need no external source and say so.

Where a tool depends on a real-world value that varies or changes, one of two things is true, and the page tells you which: either the value is an input you control, or it is cited with its published source and the date it was last checked. If a value on a page is still being verified, that page carries a visible notice.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for checking any figure before acting on it. The working is shown on every result specifically so that you can - if the arithmetic does not match your own, trust yours and tell us.

Confirm with your carrier, freight forwarder or customs broker before committing to a booking, a purchase order or a customer price.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StowMath and its operator accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from use of, or reliance on, any result from this site - including freight charges, duty, tax, penalties, demurrage, rejected shipments, lost profit or lost business. If a calculation on this site is wrong, that is worth knowing and worth fixing. Email hello@stowmath.com with the calculator, your inputs and the figure you expected. Corrections are made and the page is re-dated.
